AnneMichaela is Rudnicki & Company’s 2025 summer student. She is in her second year of studies at Osgoode Hall Law School.
AnneMichaela is passionate about protecting the rights and dignity of individuals in criminal proceedings. Prior to attending Osgoode, AnneMichaela was a graduate student at the University of Oxford’s Faculty of Law in the Centre for Criminology and a Research Assistant at the Oxford LawTech Education Programme. At Oxford, her research broadly examined race, technology, and mass incarceration, looking at emerging technologies and their facilitation of racial discrimination in criminal justice. Her MSc thesis focused on the legacy of race science and risk assessments for Indigenous peoples in Canada.
AnneMichaela’s passion for the legal-technology nexus began at the Royal Bank of Canada’s Law Group where she worked as a Strategic Initiatives Project Analyst. In this role, she worked with in-house counsel and industry partners to strategize technological solutions to legal problems. AnneMichaela subsequently assisted University of Toronto researchers looking at the overrepresentation of Black and Indigenous peoples subject to enforcement practices on Toronto Transit Commission’s systems.
The promotion of equity lies at the heart of her research, community initiatives, and work. In a volunteer capacity AnneMichaela has worked on the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic – Criminalisation of Women project, PeaceBuilders Canada’s “Building a Better Youth Court” consultations, and as a mentor for F.E.A.T. for Children of Incarcerated Parents. AnneMichaela is thrilled to be working with the team at Rudnicki and Company this summer and to support their fierce advocacy for clients.
